Introduction- Friedrich Froebel

My name is Friedrich Frobel. I am a German eduationalist, best know as the originator of the "kindergarten system". I encouraged the creation of educational environments that involve practical work and the direct use of materials. I believe that play plays a very significate role in education. It is both a creative activity and through it children become aware of their place in the world. I estbalished this new type of early childhood school, a child's garden, or kindergarten. Using play, songs, stroies, and activities, the kindergarten was designed as an eductional environment in which childre, through their own self activity could develop in teh right direction. With this I mean that through child's development, they would follow the established laws of human growth through their own activity.
